Liverpool Green Councillor Chairs Vital Committee
02 June 2010
In the May local elections, control of Liverpool changed from the Liberal Democrats to Labour. The incoming Labour council has created a new cross-party scrutiny committee, to watch over Liverpool's air quality, parks, recycling and waste, and the council's response to climate change. It is chaired by Green Party councillor John Coyne (pictured right). This is a tribute to John's long and distinguished service on the City Council and a significant and responsible post in one the country's largest cities.

At the same time, Cllr Sarah Jennings (pictured below) takes over from John as the Leader of the Green Party group. She becomes the first female group leader on Liverpool City Council.
